Congratulations to soprano/conductor Frances Hook, winner of our Hallelujah Chorus auction at Messiah from Scratch on 30 November last year. Frances, a former member of the BBC Singers, now lives in France where she runs various choirs. She was sponsored by her singers to bid in the auction, and with over 80 of them accompanying her to the Royal Albert Hall there was a delighted cheer when auctioneer Ralph Tylor of Bonhams, declared her the winner. A beaming 'this-is-probably-the-best-day-of-my-life' Frances was escorted to the podium where she was presented with a baton by Brian Kay and proceeded to take charge of the 3,000-plus singers and 50-strong orchestra. There is a video of her excellent performance on YouTube (recorded, we suspect, by one of her own basses!), and anyone who wasn't able to be there can view Frances's seven minutes of glory via this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwXpEiPVUr4&feature=em-upload_owner&app=desktop
